My Childhood Bedroom

My Childhood Bedroom VR app

For the class "Building Virtual Worlds" students had to create a digital twin for VR using Unity. Since they had the freedom to recreate anything, Raquel Henao decided to re-create her childhood bedroom. She developed a cool experience centered around the objects typically found in a child's room. Through this project Raquel was able to dive deeper into creating XR experiences in Unity.

Within the demo video, you will see a variety of XR interactions that were implemented. There are objects that change materials, play sounds, can be grabbed, and have animations. This was achieved using the XR Simple and Grab Interactive, as well as the Animator within Unity. There are also areas for teleportation, facilitating movement within the scenes. Using scripts, scenes can change on different conditions, and the canvas can be manipulated.

The intro scene is meant to resemble the point of view of someone falling in and out of sleep. The animation was created using AfterEffects and the video was added into the scene. The dreamer is envisioning their childhood bedroom, and when they "wake up" they are brought into the bedroom, and have the opportunity to reminisce and explore.
