Provost XR Awards (For Faculty)

Applications for the Provost XR Awards are currently closed

The Provost’s XR Initiative launches an open call to attract, select, and provide financial support to new or existing faculty projects aimed at the development of novel XR solutions. XR applications include projects, research, and teaching initiatives in spatial computing, virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality.

Interactive technologies such as augmented reality, spatial computing, and virtual reality are set to transform the ways in which people learn, communicate, interact, and share information. In this context, the UM XR initiative will distribute a limited number of competitive grants intended to promote the acceleration of mixed reality and spatial computing innovations toward real-world applications and interdisciplinary teaching, learning, and scholarship.

The initiative will focus on three outcomes:

  1. Research in immersive computing
  2. XR in the classroom
  3. Seed funding for advancement in the clinic and/or commercial sector
